CAD and Custom Product Design for Fabrication

skills

One of the research experiments in our lab at NUPTHMS utilises a force/torque sensor from HBM to measure isometric forces. In order to safely mount the sensor onto our experimental setup, stainless steel plates were needed with a black oxide finish. We had to get these plates fabricated by an external company, so I worked on the CAD design for the mounting plates in Onshape according to the required specifications. The design is shown in the image on the left, with the HBM sensor sandwiched in the centre. The picture on the right shows the plates after we got them back from the fabrication company.
