Work Experience
Research Engineer 2 (December 2021 - present)
Research Engineer 1 (February 2019 - November 2021)
Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences
Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University
Chicago, IL, USA
Developed software and electronics for a robotic device prototype as a core member of the engineering team.
Contributed to design revisions for the final version of the device that will be deployed in R01 clinical trials for stroke rehabilitation.
Developed hardware components and software programs for experimental protocols related to ongoing research. Work experience includes programming in C, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, interfacing with load cells/torque sensors/encoders/digital dynamometers, interfacing with DC motors/harmonic drives, and interpreting data streams (RS232, RS485 and other serial protocols).
Other responsibilities include microcontroller programming, configuring data acquisition devices for signal analysis, testing portable robotic devices, component sourcing, 3D printing of custom pieces according to specifications, and custom PC building. Mentored graduate, undergraduate and high-school students in technical projects.
Appointed as an Affiliated Research Scientist for the MS in Robotics program (January ‘20) at the McCormick School of Engineering, Northwestern University to facilitate collaborative research.
Part-Time Analytics Intern (June 2018 - September 2018)
Caterpillar Digital & Analytics Hub
Chicago, IL, USA
Contributed to an ongoing project with Robot Operating System (ROS) tools for visualization and simulation capabilities. Developed a URDF (Unified Robot Description Format) file for a hydraulically actuated arm to represent it with revolute joints. Skills involved:
- Extensive usage of the ROS TF package
- Incorporating Rviz features for visualization of data (such as pointcloud data)
- Usage of ROS plugins for sensors in Gazebo (eg. stereo camera plugin)
- Usage of 3D mesh-editing tools (Blender, MeshLab)
- Python programming for ROS publishers and subscribers
